Artist's Statement

My body of work is a non representational and representational study on how the materials and techniques I use behave with each other. My affinity towards aesthetics created by natural occurrences such as decay, rust, and corrosion largely influences my work. My goal is to have each painting imitate particular scenes from nature which fascinates me for the enigmatic visuals they embody. I appreciate how I can achieve the look of an aging process with simply paint. My series of paintings make me see the beauty of something that would be considered grotesque. Such imagery propels me to further investigate, and I hope my art compels the viewer to do the same.
